# MoonBit ecosystem review

Checked on 2026-08-22 using the Mooncakes search UI at https://mooncakes.io/.

The visible searches for `can`, `canbus`, `socketcan`, `can-fd`, `dbc`, `uds`, `j1939`, and `canopen` did not show a mature package with the same protocol-modeling and virtual-bus scope. The broad `can` search primarily returned unrelated canvas packages. This is a bounded registry check, not a claim that no related code exists anywhere.

The project therefore focuses on a pure-MoonBit, hardware-free protocol foundation and deterministic simulator. It does not replace SocketCAN or a certified controller stack. Future DBC, UDS, J1939, and CANopen packages can build on the stable frame and bus interfaces.

The current implementation extends that foundation with signal packing,
deterministic replay, event-log queries, and diagnostics. These additions stay
inside the protocol-modeling and hardware-independent simulation boundary; they
do not copy an upstream implementation or claim a hardware adapter.
