## Key Algorithms

### 1. Sensor Fusion
Combines accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer to estimate 3D orientation.

**Complementary Filter:**
- Weights: 98% gyro, 2% accel/mag
- Fast and efficient
- Good for most applications

**Kalman Filter:**
- Optimal state estimation
- Noise modeling
- Better accuracy in noisy environments

**Madgwick Filter:**
- Gradient descent approach
- High accuracy
- Efficient computation

### 2. Gesture Recognition

**Shake Detection:**
- Analyzes acceleration variance
- Threshold-based classification

**Free Fall:**
- Total acceleration near zero
- Threshold: < 2 m/s²

**Impact Detection:**
- Sudden high acceleration
- Threshold: > 30 m/s² (3g)

**Tilt Detection:**
- Pitch/roll from accelerometer
- Threshold: > 28 degrees

**Rotation:**
- Angular velocity magnitude
- Threshold: > 3 rad/s

### 3. Calibration

**Accelerometer:**
- Measures offset when stationary
- Assumes Z-axis aligned with gravity
- Min samples: 10

**Gyroscope:**
- Measures drift bias when stationary
- Compensates for temperature drift
- Min samples: 20

**Magnetometer:**
- Hard-iron: Offset from magnetic sources
- Soft-iron: Ellipsoid distortion correction
- Min samples: 50 (with rotation)

## Design Principles

1. **Type Safety**: Strong typing with MoonBit's type system
2. **Zero-Copy**: ArrayView for efficient memory usage
3. **Immutable Data**: Functional approach where possible
4. **Mutable State**: Only for driver internal state
5. **Error-Free**: No runtime errors, all edge cases handled
6. **Hardware Agnostic**: Works with any IMU sensor
